Building the Giants Village on MultiversX

Giants Village is a decentralized, blockchain-based game that allows players to collect and trade while building the Giants’ world. This open-world game combines elements of farming simulation, virtual pet management, and world-building with a touch of decentralized Web3 technology.

We talked to the creators of Giants Village, to find out more about the game, its features and their future plans. Read the interview below.

How does Giants Village stand out from other blockchain-based games in the market?

Giants Village will be more than a game. It will be an immersive experience where the community can interact, have fun, earn and express their personality.

We aim to take full advantage of the Web3 features and technologies when developing all the game infrastructure, mechanics and logic. The Giants Village game will be one of the first truly on-chain games on MultiversX.

Building open-source allows the whole community to contribute to building an incredible experience, create new in-game items and get royalties through community-created assets, tournaments, extensions, quests, raffles, etc.

Players will fully own their Giants, buildings, territories, decorations, clothes and any other objects they may generate in-game. They will all be represented as SFTs/NFTs, readily exchangeable in the marketplace.

What are the main features of the Giants Village game?

It all starts in Your Village. It is the core component of the Giants Village and a home for our beloved Giants. Here, players will farm resources, grow their village, craft new items, and much more. In addition, they will have to compete in quest tournaments with others to level up and get rewards.

Giants NFTs will be the engine of almost every activity in the Village. Players will be able to breed their Giants to create new, unique Giants that will help them grow your village even faster. Another feature is the option to customize the clothes of Giants and even trade them individually on any marketplace.

Players can also participate in raffles or focus on crafting the most challenging and rare items for their Village and Giants.

These are the features we focus on in the game's first season. From these, other features will come.

Can you tell us more about the community aspect of Giants Village and how players can interact with each other in the game?

Our guiding principle is that the community always comes first. We believe in its multiplying power. Giants Village is growing into one big digital nation with its own currency and economics, culture and education, rules of engagement and governance structure.

In the game, players can chat with each other, visit their villages and compete in quest tournaments to earn $GIANT tokens and other prizes. In addition, they can trade and make strategies based on community interaction. As the game progresses, we’ll add more features like this.

The Governance system will also allow players to vote on all significant decisions that affect the Giants Village, and with time, more and more control over the game will be handed over.

As we have done since the start of the Giants project, we value the community's opinion, and we took all major decisions together with the community. The Giants Village game aims to follow the same guiding principles. A guide on what can be voted in the DAO & more detailed information regarding the process will be provided in due time.

How does Giants Village generate revenue for its players and the development team?

There are multiple sources of revenue: selling of in-game assets, different fees collected across the game, or other systems associated with the game like raffles, mini-games, and of course, royalties.

What are your future plans for Giants Village and the Giants NFT collection?

2023 will be a fantastic year for the Giants Village game and the Giants project. We have already introduced our V2 whitepaper, presenting the game and its systems in even more detail. As a next step, we’ll also redesign our website and slowly the overall online presence to better align with the new whitepaper and what we’re building.

Since the end of 2022, we have started the development and design of the game, with the implementation of different building blocks, like a non-custodial wallet system that will act as your in-game inventory to improve the overall user experience across the game.

Following that, 2023 will be the year that will bring the V2 Giants Village whitepaper to life on the MultiversX network!

What do you see as the future of blockchain gaming and how does Giants Village fit into this vision?

We think the future of blockchain gaming will, first of all, have its core logic on-chain. Following that, people will need to find ingenious ways to improve the user experience and make it comparable to the one web2 games have right now.

Because you can own your assets, freely trade them on any marketplace and use them in another game, it’s a massive paradigm shift compared to how games used to work.

Finally, I’d mention the governance and the community-first approach, where you build it together with the community, and the community earns together with you.

The Giants Village tries to follow precisely the vision highlighted above. So that’s briefly how we see a blockchain game.

What advice would you give to someone interested in getting involved in blockchain gaming and Giants Village?

First of all, we recommend reading the game’s whitepaper/documentation carefully and deciding whether it is worth the attention or not. After that, it is important to determine why that person wants to play that game and how, and make strategies based on it. For example, in the Giants Village, we try to give some alternative roles you can have in the game based on the systems we have: collector, gamer, breeder, trader, etc.

Secondly, be patient; nothing can be built overnight, although we would like to. Web3 games bring a new perspective to the gaming world and come with a new set of rules, functionalities, and benefits.

Whoever will be in this ecosystem from the beginning will definitely benefit more from it and will have the opportunity to see it grow and transform into the new normal.
